Jaime Ravinet cursó sus estudios secundarios en el colegio San Ignacio. Luego se tituló de Licenciado en Ciencias Jurídicas y Sociales en la Universidad de Chile y recibió su título de Abogado de la Excma. Corte Suprema de Chile. En el ámbito académico fue profesor de la Facultad de Economía de la Universidad de Chile.

Tiene una vasta trayectoria de servicio público y una amplia experiencia en el ámbito político. Como militante de la Democracia Cristiana, ocupó variados cargos dentro de las estructuras del Partido. En los años sesenta fue Presidente de la Federación de Estudiantes de la Universidad de Chile, Jefe de Gabinete del Ministro de Minería y Asesor del Ministro de Educación y del Presidente de la República en temas universitarios. En la década del noventa, se desempeñó como Alcalde de la I. Municipalidad de Santiago.

Posteriormente, ejerció importantes funciones en el Gobierno. Fue bi-Ministro de Vivienda y Urbanismo, y Bienes Nacionales, y luego Ministro de Defensa Nacional durante el gobierno concertacionista del Presidente Ricardo Lagos.

Jaime Ravinet nació en Santiago, tiene 63 años, es casado y padre de tres hijos.

Jaime Ravinet graduated from high school at Colegio San Ignacio and he majored in Legal and Social Sciences at the Universidad de Chile, obtaining his lawyer degree from the Chilean Supreme Court. He was professor in the Economics Department at the Universidad de Chile.

Mr. Ravinet has an impeccable track record of public service and vast experience in politics. He is a member of Democracia Cristiana and has served in several positions within the party structure. In the sixties, he was President of the Students Federation at Universidad de Chile, Chief of Staff for the Minister of Mining and an advisor on university matters to the Education Minister and the President. In the nineties, he was a Mayor of Santiago.

After he successfully finished his term as mayor, Mr. Ravinet occupied important positions in the Government. He was bi Minister of Housing and Urbanism, and Land, and then Minister of National Defense during President Ricardo Lagos’ government.

Jaime Ravinet was born in Santiago, he is 63 years old, married and the father of three children.
