Ministro de Defensa Nacional
Andrés Allamand realizó sus estudios en el colegio Saint George’s College y el Liceo José Victorino Lastarria y se tituló de abogado con distinción máxima en 1979 en la Universidad de Chile.
En el ámbito académico se desarrolló desde 1996 hasta 1998 como Presidente del Instituto Libertad, centro de estudios políticos y asesoría legislativa. Durante los años 1998-2000 trabajó en el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) en Washington DC. En el 2001 se incorporó a la Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, donde ejerció el cargo de Decano de la Escuela de Gobierno (2002-2007). Desde entonces, ha impartido diversos cursos en los MBA de esa casa de estudios.
Fue diputado electo entre 1994 y 1998 por el distrito 23 (Las Condes, Vitacura y Lo Barnechea) y posteriormente fue senador por la X Región de Los Lagos, circunscripción 16 “Los Lagos Norte”.
Ha escrito y participado en diversos libros y publicaciones.

Andrés Allamand studied at Saint George’s College and Liceo José Victorino Lastarria. Then, in 1979, he graduated from Universidad de Chile with a degree in law with the highest honors.
From 1996 until 1998, he served as President of Instituto Libertad, a political research and legislative advisory center. Between 1998 and 2000, he worked at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Washington, D.C. He joined Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in 2001 as Dean of the School of Government (2002-2007) and he has since taught different courses on the MBA program there.
He served in the Chamber of Deputies from 1994 to 1998, representing District 23 (Las Condes, Vitacura and Lo Barnechea) and later as Senator for the 10th Region (Los Lagos), representing District 16, “Los Lagos North”.
He has written and contributed to a variety of books and publications.
Andrés Allamand Zavala was born in Santiago on February 17, 1956.
